TomTom’s Maps API is a suite of web services designed for developers to create static and interactive maps to be displayed in any mobile or web application. As a part of the Maps API web service suite, developers have access to: - Raster APIs: display map data in tiles of square images (PNG or JPG format) available at 23 different zoom levels, ranging from zero (the entire earth displayed on one single tile) to 22 (the world divided into 244 tiles) - Vector APIs: show geographic map data packaged in a vector representation of squared sections (vector tiles), each which includes pre-defined collections of map features (points, lines, road shapes, water polygons, building footprints, etc.) delivered in one of the specified vector formats Common use cases developers can implement include: - Display a map of the whole world with zooming and panning - Display a map of a specific country - Display a map at the given location and show its detailed surroundings
