NGINX Plus is a software load balancer, web server, and content cache built on top of open source NGINX. NGINX Plus has exclusive enterprise‑grade features beyond what's available in the open source offering, including session persistence, configuration via API, and active health checks. NGINX Plus is used instead of hardware load balancers and allow the freedom to innovate without being constrained by infrastructure. NGINX Plus features include load balancing to extend traditional load balancing software, a web server to deliver static assets with unparalleled speed and efficiency, monitoring to diagnose and debug complex application architectures, scalable high availability (HA) deployments, and more. An update released in Fall 2018, named NGINX Plus R17, debuts new dynamic clustering to share key-value stores across distributed NGINX Plus instances. NGINX Plus R17 also introduces new load‑balancing algorithms for Kubernetes Ingress control and microservices use cases.
